South Africa, (Stellenbosch District WO)
100% Verdelho

Loop de Loop Columbia Valley Birdsong Syrah 2021

Columbia Valley
Syrah
13%

Just 25 miles east of our vineyard is a much warmer and drier climate. We love the Gorge for its dynamic diversity which allows us to work with a diverse amount of varietals.

This syrah was fermented with wild yeasts, 50% whole cluster. It received pigéage daily, twice daily during peak fermentation. Minimal intervention in the cellar, we did not add sulfur until after malolactic fermentation was complete. It rested on the lees in 2 burgundy barrels for 10 months before hand-bottling unfined and unfiltered in our cellar. Less than 20 ppm so2 and nothing else added.

Violets, Provençal herbs and cracked pepper on the nose, the palate is full and explosive with supple dark fruit & ripe black currant leading way to white pepper & prosciutto with a dusty long finish.

Columbia Valley
100% Cabernet Franc

We love Chinon & the wines of France's Loire Valley. We strive to produce old world cabernet franc inspired by the wines from this region. This wine was fermented destemmed, with pigeage and no punchdown tools or pumps. It only recieved less than 30 ppm sulfur after the secondary fermentation was complete and was bottled unfined and unfiltered. This wine was aged in one puncheon and 1 barrique. It is scented with fresh herbs, black tea and violets, and tapenade. It is medium - full bodied and has a lovely balance of fruit and acidity.

Louis de Grenelle Cremant de Loire Platin, NV

France, (Saumur AOC)
85% Chenin Blanc, 10% Chardonnay, 5% Cabernet Franc
12%
* Vegan

The winemaking as Louis de Grenelle is quite minimalist. The fruit is pressed and flows by gravity into underground tanks at the winery. All of the wines are made in the Champagne method and are aged for their allotted time in the cellars beneath the streets of Saumur. They are bottled with little dosage to preserve the freshness of the Cabernet Franc, Chenin Blanc Chardonnay varieties.

TASTING NOTES: A fresh, citrus flavored wine with attractive fruitiness and a crisp texture. There is a yeasty edge that should vanish and leave just fruit. Because it is mainly made from Chenin Blanc, there is a nutty, honeyed aftertaste.

FOOD PAIRINGS: Pairs well with shellfish, poultry, lean fish, or as an aparitif.

Love & Squalor Pinot Noir Reserve 2017

Willamette Valley, Oregon
100% Pinot Noir
LIVE Certified
13.5%

The 2017 Pinot Noir Reserve (FKA Antsy Pants). OK, the madras patchwork pants are still hanging on the label, but we outgrew the cheeky name. This limited 50-case bottling is a blended barrel selection from Vista Hills Vineyard in the Dundee Hills and Temperance Hill Vineyard in the Eola Hills. These are both top-notch sites that never disappoint.

This is a reserve wine, whatever that means, but the style is not typical - bolder, more oak - that we may be accustomed to. These are barrels that show great promise when young, but are like a rider on the horizon and we may have to wait a while before the true shape of the wine comes into focus.

A blend of 50% Tempranillo and 50% Garnacha is vinified completely in stainless steel with some whole clusters.

TASTING NOTES: This succulent red straddles the lines of "fruit-driven" and "savory" to perfection. The cherry, pomegranate notes are buttressed with a juniper and peppercorn snap, hints of cola, thyme and fresh herbs. This is FANTASTIC red that over-delivers in every way...

FOOD PAIRINGS: The soft, moderately juicy texture is perfect for serving at a cool 58-60 F, and pairing with appetizers, pizza, and light meat dishes.

Ransom Dry Vermouth, NV

Oregon, (Willamette Valley AVA)
Pinot Auxerrois, Albariño, Riesling, Pinot Gris, Gewürztraminer, and Muscat, with a secret blend of herbs and spices
18.4%
* Certified Organic

Established in 1997, Ransom is celebrating 25 years as an alembic distillery, artisan wine company and vermouth house. Ransom juxtaposes many of the finest old world craft beverage traditions with creative innovation.

TASTING NOTES: Opens with rich aromatics of neroli orange, verbena blossom, and white tea. On the palate, a bittersweet interplay between flavors of absinthe and baking spices is punctuated by juicy citrus notes. The finish is long and balanced, evoking the sweet herbal scent of a Willamette Valley meadow in late summer.

FOOD PAIRINGS: Served on the rocks it's a natural match for seafood especially shellfish like oysters, crab and prawns. Chefs often add a dash when they’re cooking scallops or clams for example or making a seafood risotto – you could drink the same vermouth with the dish. It's also good pairing with tricky-to-match ingredients such as olives (cracked olives with fennel is particularly delicious), anchovies and artichokes so think of this style as a good match for a range of antipasti, crostini and Greek meze.

Oregon, (Willamette Valley AVA)
Pinot Auxerrois, Albariño, Riesling, Pinot Gris, Gewürztraminer, and Muscat, with a secret blend of herbs and spices
18.4%
* Certified Organic

The base wine for this sweet vermouth is a blend of organically and conventionally farmed aromatic white varietals, including Gewurztraminer, Muscat, Riesling and Pinot Gris. To this base Ransom adds the brandy, alambically distilled in house and barrel aged in mixed French oak. The Vermouth is then infused with a tantalizing blend of aromatic botanicals.

TASTING NOTES: Pleasing and complex. Wormwood has a nice presence here. Similar to the nose, with a bit more of the dried fruit notes. There are far too many botanical in here for me to pick anything out easily. The spice is there, the astringency is there, and the citrus is there.

FOOD PAIRINGS: These are the crisp wines of the vermouth world with an extra herby edge. Served on the rocks they’re a natural match for seafood especially shellfish like oysters, crab and prawns. Unico Zelo Fresh AF Nero D'Avola 2023

Nero d'Avola 65%, Grenache 25%, Zibibbo 10%
12%
Certified B Corp

Few wine ventures are as committed to the idea of sustainability as Brendan and Laura from Unico Zelo. Their championing of Italian varieties, particularly Nero d'Avola and Fiano, comes from their belief in their suitability to Australia.

Nero is a particularly hardy grape and it thrives in warm, dry climates. So, here they take the fruit from one of the warmest and driest regions in the country and make a glugable, slurpable red which is ideal quaffing for just about any night of the week.

This is their brightest and freshest feeling Nero blend to date. The Grenache adds some flavour and oomph, while a dash of old vine Zibbibo (white wine) adds lift and a super zippy crunch of acidity. It's great drinking at a great price and a little left of centre. More inventive stuff from this energetic couple.

Rhone Valley, France

Sustainably farmed

A worthy comparison between the Vacqueyras and Cuvée Romaine can be made at Domaine la Garrigue. Whereas the Romaine trades on a fruitier, more easy-going structure, the Vacqueyras is altogether different. Seeing an additional 6 months in tank, it possesses a notable meaty quality with firmer tannins and a seriously dense core of black fruit and iron. Should you find yourself with a fairly large piece of beef or lamb on your hands, you’d be hard-pressed for a more suitable assistant at the table than this Vacqueyras. For the 2019 vintage, Virginie Combe renamed this cuvée Albert & Camille after her Bernard family ancestors who founded Domaine la Garrigue in the middle of the 19th century.

Ercole Bianco Monferrato, 2023 (1L)

Italy, (Piedmont DOC)
90% Cortese, 86% Chardonnay, 2% Sauvignon Blanc
12%
* Vegan

Wines made from the native grape variety Cortese boast a serious yet pleasing weight, pronounced minerality, and beautiful acidity. In fact, the Cortese-based wines of nearby Gavi are among the most treasured whites of Northern Italy. We have discovered that adding a touch of Chardonnay and Sauvignon Blanc further sharpens and thereby elevates this wine. Just a great refreshing white!

TASTING NOTES:  Fresh aromas of Asian and Bartlett pear meet lime citrus, white flowers and green apple, alongside a flinty minerality over white nectarine and herbs. The palate is as refreshing as its nose suggests, and mirrors notes of citrus, pear, and apple, finishing high on a wave of minerality.

FOOD PAIRINGS:  An excellent wine to pair with foods inspired by Northern Italian coastal cuisine including fragrant pesto pastas and seafood dishes with basil and lemon.

Broc Cellars "Love White" White Blend, 2022

26% Picpoul, 22% Clairette, 22% Orange Muscat, 15% Marsanne, 10% Roussanne, 5% Chardonnay.
11%
* Natural Wine, Organic Grapes

This is one of the more interesting and complex Love Whites yet. It’s evolved over the years from a Rhône blend of Marsanne and Roussanne and this is the first year we’ve added Orange Muscat to the mix. California is one of the few places Orange Muscat is grown and it is often made in a sweeter style wine. For us, we love the beautiful aromatics and charming texture it brings to the wine. Picpoul from Windmill Vineyard is more substantially featured this year, which brings a new brightness to the blend that makes it hard to put down the glass.

TASTING NOTES: Sour apple and citrus zest up front, Bright and salty - then lots of minerals - finished with hits of honey on the palate.

Rain events at the beginning of bloom diminished yields, and a dry summer was punctuated with unprecedented heatwaves. The timing worked in our favor since the heat happened pre-veraison, and the vines handled it well. No disease, high sugars, balanced acids, and great flavors. 2021 will undoubtedly rank as one of the top Oregon vintages.

TASTING NOTES:  Off dry with scents of pear, apple and peach, this vineyard designate has broad and generous fruit flavors, leavened by reedy notes of celery leaf and ginger flower; its texture is luxurious and slyly intense, with a surprisingly sweet and lingering finish.

Forlorn Hope Queen of the Sierra White 2022

Calaveras County, (Calfironia)
Chardonnay, Verdelho, and Muscat
11.6%
Organic Farming

Queen of the Sierra white estate blend was grown on the Rorick Heritage Vineyard in Calaveras County at 2000’ elevation, featuring soils comprised of a layer of schist over dolomite-rich limestone. Composed primarily of Chardonnay, Verdelho, and Muscat, the wine shows all of the aromatic complexity and textural presence that are the hallmarks of wines grown on the limestone of our estate.

All fruit for our estate white blend was hand-picked. Most lots were fermented separately due to different pick dates. Individual lots were racked and blended together; they remained in neutral oak or steel tank until being bottled unfined and unfiltered. As with all Forlorn Hope wines, no new oak is utilized, and nothing was added to the must or wine (no cultured yeast, ML bacteria, water, tartaric acid, enzymes, nutrients, etc) with the exception of minimal effective SO2.

Grapes have been grown on Colle Petruccio, the hill that the winery gets its name from, for thousands of years. Sandro's philosophy is to farm and make wine the same way it has been done on this hill for millennium.

Must try paired with lightly fried appetizers and seafood, such as pan-seared scallops.

Iruai "Tierra Extraña" Cabernet Franc 2023

California

100% Cabernet Franc

Natural Wine

"The perfect 'Summer Red Wine' is a mysterious and elusive creature. I love to start a night off with a lighter bodied / "chillable" red, but despite their maximum drinkability, I don't really consider them the perfect Summer Red Wine. The thing is, when it's Summer here in the mountains you want a red wine that you can drink with something hearty from the grill and into the night around the fire as things cool down fast.

For me the perfect Summer red, from riverside to camp fire is whole cluster Cab Franc. When you're dipping into your third night cap, and looking for your jacket on a high mountain Summer's night, you'll want 'Tierra Extraña' Cab Franc in your glass. Whole Cluster fermentation and extended maceration bring a bounty of pepper and perfume, uninhibited by stewy extraction, but rather infused with juicy coastal blackberry, head shop aromatics and underpinned with a deep ethereal earthiness.

Enjoy by: drinking out of an enamel camping mug and stargazing by the fire.

Day Wines Deep Blue Willamette Valley Pinot Noir 2021

Oregon

100% Pinot Noir

13.0%

Natural Wine

Deep Blue is our first Willamette Valley Pinot Noir, as opposed to our single vineyard offerings. We sourced fruit from our two primary Pinot Noir producers: Momtazi & Johan Vineyards, both Demeter-certified Biodynamic sites that produce drastically distinct wines. We questioned if the two sites could possibly coexist in a complimentary way and were stunned by the harmony of the vineyards’ opposing characteristics melding together in true yin and yang fashion.

A parallel story of balance is the wine’s blend of two vintages: 2019 and 2020. Blue agreeably showcases 2019’s sweet herb & floral characteristics as well as 2020’s developed fruit notes. Think ripe berries, incense and baking spice. A portion of the proceeds from the sale of Deep Blue will be donated to organizations who promote the restoration of our oceans. It is important to us to continually offer wines that can promote and support causes we believe in.

Libertine "Death and Rebirth Vol 3" Riesling, NV

Oregon, (Eola-Amity Hills AVA)
100% Riesling
12.0%
* Natural Wine

A spectacularly unique project that is best described as a refermentation solera but even that is not very accurate. We never intended to create such a beast until necessity forced our hand. When we bottled our 2017 Riesling, the warehouse did not have enough of the specialty glass we were using at the time. Most had been shipped off to other states as we were the only ones in Oregon stupid enough to buy it. This left us with a half barrel of Riesling. We had run some “sherry” trials before and decided to throw caution into the wind. We let the barrel oxidize and develop native Oregon surface yeast.

TASTING NOTES: Freshly cut white flowers and lavender on the nose. Asian pear and fresh oregano are carried on ad infinitum by a raging acidity. It embodies the true Oregon spirit of fearlessness and ruthless experimentation. Like all our other wines, it was wild yeast fermented in neutral oak. Other than a very small amount of sulfite, absolutely nothing was added to this wine. Unfiltered and unfined.

FOOD PAIRINGS: Dry Spatlese wines are great paired with roasted pork loin with apples, grilled halibut, and mildly-spiced Asian dishes like pad thai. Off-dry styles of Spatlese Riesling can stand up to a mild level of spice, making them excellent candidates for mild Indian and Thai curries.

The bright fruit on the nose gives off a very cherry aroma, with a forest floor and cedar undercurrents. The soft, luscious delivery appeals, with silky berries, gentle cigar box, and mild eucalyptus all making a showing. The happy fruit shows off, while the round, gentle tannins entice even the neophyte Cabernet drinker into smiles.

Libertine "ROAM" Red Blend 2022

Oregon

Tempranillo & Lagrein

12.0%

Every February we select three red barrels from our previous harvest that are shining hard. This year we chose two barrels of Tempranillo and one barrel of Lagrein to create a blend that no one else has been stupid enough to make. The result is one of the best wines we have ever made. We are incredibly proud to offer this bottle to you.

The essence of terra rises from the glass with a hint of funfetti birthday cake.
The palate is greeted with notes of dried raspberry, fresh watermelon seed, and Luxardo cherry.
It is intensely rich and yet incredibly light on its feet, displaying a youthful exuberance wise beyond its years.
A delicate elegance that is infinitely complex. An absolute stunner.

What is the meaning behind ”ROAM”?

We are all transient beings trapped within the workings of our immediate environment yearning for the romantic ideation of roaming the immense metaphorical plains without meaning or purpose simply free from the burdens of human existence.

Native vineyard yeast fermented with zero additives other than a fractional amount of sulfite. Unfiltered and unfined.
