Brooks "Bois Joli" Riesling, 2021

Oregon, (Willamette Valley AVA)
100% Riesling
12.0%
* Biodynamic

Rain events at the beginning of bloom diminished yields, and a dry summer was punctuated with unprecedented heatwaves. The timing worked in our favor since the heat happened pre-veraison, and the vines handled it well. No disease, high sugars, balanced acids, and great flavors. 2021 will undoubtedly rank as one of the top Oregon vintages.

TASTING NOTES:  Off dry with scents of pear, apple and peach, this vineyard designate has broad and generous fruit flavors, leavened by reedy notes of celery leaf and ginger flower; its texture is luxurious and slyly intense, with a surprisingly sweet and lingering finish.

FOOD PAIRINGS:  Thai noodles, prawns, fatty pork, chicken wings.

Colle Petruccio "Stralunato" Toscana Bianco IGT, 2021

Italy, (Toscana Bianco IGT)
Vermentino, Trebbiano, and Malvasia Bianca
13.5%
* Organically Farmed

Grapes have been grown on Colle Petruccio, the hill that the winery gets its name from, for thousands of years. The hill is next to the Etruscan / Roman archaeological site Roselle which was an important ancient town up until the Middle Ages. After a career in law, Sandro Ruffo left his profession to pursue his childhood passion of wine making. Sandro's philosophy is to farm and make wine the same way it has been done on this hill for millennium.

TASTING NOTES:  On the nose, the wine starts with tangerine, salted apricot, jasmine and a hint of butterscotch. The palate offers more ripe peach and tangerine and mango fruit with a note of citric acidity that carries all the way through to the finish. Simple, unctuous, and deliciously easy to drink, this wine is as perfect for the porch as it is the dinner table.

FOOD PAIRINGS:  Herbal and savory pasta dishes, asparagus.

Ercole Bianco Monferrato, 2023 (1L)

Italy, (Piedmont DOC)
90% Cortese, 86% Chardonnay, 2% Sauvignon Blanc
12%
* Vegan

Wines made from the native grape variety Cortese boast a serious yet pleasing weight, pronounced minerality, and beautiful acidity. In fact, the Cortese-based wines of nearby Gavi are among the most treasured whites of Northern Italy. We have discovered that adding a touch of Chardonnay and Sauvignon Blanc further sharpens and thereby elevates this wine. Just a great refreshing white!

TASTING NOTES:  Fresh aromas of Asian and Bartlett pear meet lime citrus, white flowers and green apple, alongside a flinty minerality over white nectarine and herbs. The palate is as refreshing as its nose suggests, and mirrors notes of citrus, pear, and apple, finishing high on a wave of minerality.

FOOD PAIRINGS:  An excellent wine to pair with foods inspired by Northern Italian coastal cuisine including fragrant pesto pastas and seafood dishes with basil and lemon.

Spain, (Getariako Txakolina DO)
85% Hondarrabi Zuri, 15% Gros Manseng
11.5%

The Gaintza estate and winery was founded by Andrés Lazkano in 1923, for the purpose of making wine for home and selling the small amount leftover directly from his farmhouse to neighboring villages. The winery has expanded since then, now home to a boutique guesthouse and tasting room offering classically warm Basque hospitality.

On the palate, puckering acidity and effervescence lend a practically gulpable appeal, with bright Meyer lemon, apple and green herbs. Finishes salty and clean, begging for another sip.

Garciarévalo is situated at the confluence of the rivers Adaja and Eresma, which produces an exceptional microclimate characterized by temperatures up to five degrees cooler than other surrounding areas. This zone also offers a big climatic difference between the day and the nighttime temperatures, which is key for retaining acidity. Far from the arid conditions one expects in Castilla y León, their elevation at 900m and location within a pine forest, between two rivers, provides an ideal microclimate for producing beautiful, fresh, native verdejo grapes.

Jeremie Huchet "Domaine de la Chauviniere" Muscadet Sèvre-et-Maine, 2021

France, (Centre-Val de Loire IGP)
100% Melon de Bourgogne
12.0%

Jeremie Huchet is the next in line to carry on the family legacy started 4 generations ago. This transition happened in 2001 and his first step of action was acquiring more top tier vineyards plots around Nantes and converting them all to organic. The dedication of capturing the coastal influence of the Atlantic and showcasing that Muscadet can be everything from Parisian cafe wine to serious vibrant and elegant wine. To do this, everything comes down to the work in the vines. Jeremie is known for the amount of time he spends walking the parcels,  having eyes on his vines to understand and highlight growth year after year. The cellar is full of concrete, both glass-lined buried in the earth and eggs for a natural sur-lie movement.

TASTING NOTES: Pale yellow color with light greenish reflections. Its nose has a great intensity showing white flowers (acacia) notes and some pear as well. Its mouth is mineral, saline and crispy with a sparkle, developing citrus notes before rounding itself off.

FOOD PAIRINGS: Grown at the mouth of the Loire, this wine is the traditional French accompaniment to Atlantic oysters and other seafood. Light in body, lean in presence, taut in energy, and vibrant in acidity, it is the perfect accompaniment for fish and bivalves.

Jim Barry Lodge Hill Riesling, 2020

Australia, (Clare Valley AGI)
100% Riesling

Jim Barry purchased the Lodge Hill vineyard in 1977 as he was sure it would “produce some of the best Riesling in Clare.” Situated on the eastern ranges of the township of Clare, Lodge Hill is one of the highest vineyards in the Valley – at an altitude of 1575 feet – and is ideal for producing steely, minerally Rieslings, distinctive to the area.

TASTING NOTES: Aromas of fresh white peach, lime juice, and white florals with wet slate and minerally notes. A powerful Riesling with upfront lime leaf, followed by lime juice, white stone fruit and wet slate, all finishing with mouthwatering acidity. A wine built for the ages.

FOOD PAIRINGS: One of the most distinctive styles of white wine, dry rieslings from the Clare and Eden Valley in south Australia have a distinctive limey twist that makes them a particularly good match for Asian and Asian-inspired food.

Libertine "Death and Rebirth Vol 3" Riesling, NV

Oregon, (Eola-Amity Hills AVA)
100% Riesling
12.0%
* Natural Wine

A spectacularly unique project that is best described as a refermentation solera but even that is not very accurate. We never intended to create such a beast until necessity forced our hand. When we bottled our 2017 Riesling, the warehouse did not have enough of the specialty glass we were using at the time. Most had been shipped off to other states as we were the only ones in Oregon stupid enough to buy it. This left us with a half barrel of Riesling. We had run some “sherry” trials before and decided to throw caution into the wind. We let the barrel oxidize and develop native Oregon surface yeast.

TASTING NOTES: Freshly cut white flowers and lavender on the nose. Asian pear and fresh oregano are carried on ad infinitum by a raging acidity. It embodies the true Oregon spirit of fearlessness and ruthless experimentation. Like all our other wines, it was wild yeast fermented in neutral oak. Other than a very small amount of sulfite, absolutely nothing was added to this wine. Unfiltered and unfined.

FOOD PAIRINGS: Dry Spatlese wines are great paired with roasted pork loin with apples, grilled halibut, and mildly-spiced Asian dishes like pad thai. Off-dry styles of Spatlese Riesling can stand up to a mild level of spice, making them excellent candidates for mild Indian and Thai curries.

Long Shadows Vintners "Poet's Leap" Riesling, 2022

Washington, (Walla Walla AVA)
100% Riesling
12.4%

The 2022 Poet’s Leap is sourced from old vine Riesling grown at Sagemoor’s Gamache Vineyard. Planted in the mid-1980s, this is a cooler site than other parts of the Columbia Valley. Riesling grown here is notable for its bright acidity and appealing citrus character. A small amount ofBacchus Vineyard’s German clone Riesling and Yakima Valley’s DuBrul Vineyard grapes round out the blend, adding minerality, stone fruit, and heightened aromatics to the finished wine.

TASTING NOTES: Juicy kumquat and lively grapefruit aromas and flavors are laced with hints of white peach and honey with a pleasing streak of minerality throughout. Beautifully balanced with just the right amount of racy acidity, the off-dry finish is long and clean.

FOOD PAIRINGS: sautéed fish with fresh vegetables, Southeast Asian cuisine, or meats matched with a fruit salsa.

Marcel Giraudon Bourgogne Aligote, 2022

France, (Burgundy AOC)
100% Aligote
12.5%

The Giraudon family has been farming and making wine in Chitry for centuries, and the current proprietor, Marcel Giraudon, follows the family's traditional work methods. Their vineyards are on hillsides of Kimmeridgian chalky marl, the same as in Grand Cru Chablis. Yields in the vineyard are kept modest and harvesting is done by hand. For the white wines, fermentation is carried out in temperature controlled stainless steel tanks and for the Pinot Noir mainly fiberglass vats are used. The terroir at Chitry is particularly well suited for the Aligoté grape which makes up 40 percent of the vines planted in the area. Marcel Giraudon has six of his 18.5 hectares planted to Aligoté.

TASTING NOTES: The wine goes through a malolactic fermentation which adds lovely mid-palate depth to its vibrant fruit and mineral qualities.

The aromatic profile of this grape is beautifully expressive, with predominant floral and mineral aromas.

TASTING NOTES: Floral and fruit citrusy notes are apparent in an overall elegant and delicate aromatic profile. The palate reveals fresh and aromatic notes with a great balance between flavours, with a long and mineral finish.

Seehof Riesling Feinherb, 2022

The estate is located in Westhofen, with vines in three of the most prestigious vineyards around the village: Kirchspiel, Morstein, and Steingrube. This area of the Rheinhessen is characterized by limestone soils, which give the wines richness and a firm structure, but also great fruit purity and a saline minerality.

TASTING NOTES: The Seehof Riesling Feinherb is an off-dry style of Riesling that drinks dry: you will notice the residual sugar in the weight of the wine on the palate, but it will finish fresh and lively. Light gold in the glass with pristine aromas of nectarine, peach, key lime and a touch of apricot.

Selbach-Oster Riesling Zeltinger Kabinett Trocken, 2020

Germany, (Bereiche Mosel)
100% Riesling
12%

Since 1661 the Selbach family has owned vineyards in the Mosel region. Their main treasure is simply what nature presents us with: excellent vineyard-sites, and old, ungrafted vines on steep, south-facing slopes planted on heat-retaining, mineral-rich, rocky slate soil. Their philosophy of winemaking is "hands-on" in the vineyards and "hands-off" in the cellar. Most of Selbach Oster wines are still fermented and matured in the traditional oak "Fuder"-barrels supplemented by a small number of stainless-steel vats. They do not use new oak for Rieslings to preserve the delicate structure of subtle fruit and crisp acidity as purely as possible.

TASTING NOTES: From the steep and shallow as well as warm part of the cru, with less fine soils than the Schlossberg, the 2020 Zeltinger Sonnenuhr Kabinett offers a clear, pure and stony bouquet with rocky and flinty notes. Lush and elegant, refined and complex on the palate, this is an expressive, finely grippy and salivating Sonnenuhr Kabinett that is not really in a Kabinett style, but it's gorgeous and has age-worthy quality.

FOOD PAIRINGS:  This wine pairs perfectly with seafood, salads, and light pasta dishes.
