G.D. Vajra is a family estate in Barolo known for its meticulous, sustainable viticulture. The 2023 Langhe Nebbiolo draws from younger vines (7–25 years) across high-elevation sites, harvested early morning for freshness. Gentle maceration and spontaneous fermentation followed by 6–14 months aging—mostly in stainless steel with a touch of neutral oak—emphasize purity and energy.

 

TASTING NOTES: Lively light garnet color. The nose offers delicate floral aromatics—geranium, rose petals—layered with crushed mountain raspberry, violet, and mineral notes. On the palate it's fresh, juicy, and pulpy, featuring bright cherries, sour cherry, strawberry, pomegranate, and a hint of spice. Silky tannins and vibrant acidity lead to a chalky, savory finish.

 

FOOD PAIRINGS: Pairs beautifully with tajarin al ragù (rich egg-yolk pasta), roasted game, mushroom dishes, aged cheeses, grilled salmon, or charcuterie—serving well slightly chilled.
