Château de Saint Cosme, run by the Barruol family (estate in family since 1490), is famed for its terroir-driven Rhône wines. Their Saint-Joseph is sourced mainly from the Malleval climat in the northern part of the appellation, featuring granitic soils and cool microclimates. 

 

TASTING NOTES: Inky violet/red color. Aromas of dark cherry and black berry fruit mingle with spicy herbs, pepper, violets, and smoky/graphite undertones. On the palate, it is medium to full-bodied with a firm backbone: fine tannins, energetic grip, and minerality from the granite soils. The finish is persistent, with peppery lift and savory complexity. 

 

FOOD PAIRINGS: Pairs beautifully with grilled or roasted red meats, game, herb-accented stews, mushrooms, and dishes with aromatic spice or smoke.
