Brea Wine Company—founded by natural winemaker Chris Brockway (Broc Cellars) and importer Tim Elenteny—is dedicated to site-driven, sustainably farmed wines. Their 2021 Margarita Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon is sourced from a cooler-climate vineyard at 1,000 ft elevation, near the Pacific's influence. Destemmed and fermented with native yeasts, the wine was aged 10–20 months in 100% used French oak, ensuring structure with restraint.
TASTING NOTES: Medium-bodied with deep ruby color. Aromas of black currant, cassis, plum, and ripe red berries are layered over notes of tobacco, dark chocolate, and subtle leather. The palate is lush yet refined—juicy red fruit compote framed by elegant tannins, bright acidity, and a persistent mineral-tinged finish.
FOOD PAIRINGS: Pours beautifully with grilled or roasted red meats—steak, lamb, venison—barbecue ribs, and aged hard cheeses. Its fresh acidity also handles spicy Tex-Mex and tomato-based dishes.
