Domaine André Berthet-Rayne is a family farm with roots dating back to the 1880s and five generations of stewardship. In 1977, André broke from the local cooperative to bottle independently; the estate covers approximately 30 ha—including vines up to 100 years old—on clay-limestone terraces in Cairanne. They farm organically since 2008 (first certified for 2011 vintage) and transitioned to biodynamic agriculture under Biodyvin in 2021.
TASTING NOTES: Deep garnet with purple hues. On the nose, ripe black and red fruits—blackberry, dark cherry—paired with violet, wild herbs, and a touch of leather, licorice, and spice. The palate brings a harmony of juicy dark berries, black currant, crushed pepper, subtle cocoa, and earthy tobacco leaf, framed by fine, polished tannins and fresh acidity.
FOOD PAIRINGS: Delicious alongside grilled meats, lamb, venison, hearty stews, mushroom-based dishes, and robust cheeses
