The 2021 Zaro “Eazy” Refošk is a collaboration between the Zaro family and importer Black Lamb, showcasing organically farmed Refošk grapes from vineyards perched above the Adriatic Sea in Izola, Slovenia. Fermented spontaneously with native yeasts and aged in stainless steel, this wine is bottled unfined and unfiltered, preserving its natural character. ​

 

TASTING NOTES: Inky purple in color, this wine offers aromas of dark wild berries, brambly fruit, cocoa, spice, and menthol. On the palate, it delivers concentrated fruit flavors with a vibrant acidity and a saline lift, culminating in a refreshing finish. ​

 

FOOD PAIRINGS: Traditionally enjoyed with heartier fish dishes like grilled, spiced fish or squid ink pasta, this versatile wine also pairs well with cured meats, lamb, dry-aged beef, venison, or even tuna, thanks to the salty twang imparted by the vines' proximity to the sea. ​
