The 2016 Warp + Weft "Shweshwe" Red Blend is a collaborative effort between Warp + Weft and the Basson family, who have been farming their estate in Swartland for four generations. Sourced from 30-year-old, dry-farmed bush vines, this wine reflects the rich viticultural heritage of the region.
TASTING NOTES: The wine opens with complex aromas of graphite, black pepper, and mulberry. The palate is rich and dynamic, featuring flavors of Damson plum, kola nut, sassafras, tayberry, and Bing cherry. Silken yet lengthy tannins carry the wine from start to finish, with notes of tobacco, oak, and spiced vanilla.
FOOD PAIRINGS: This versatile blend pairs well with grilled meats, hearty stews, and dishes featuring robust flavors.
